The Hot Working of SS grade 446 is performed between the Range of 1093 to 1170 Degree Celcius The Last 10% of the Hot Working has to be performed Below 871 Degree to gain grain refinement. Alloy 446 (UNS S44600) has a high ductile-to-brittle impact transition temperature. Therefore, successful forming and bending are aided by edge preparation, low forming speeds, and preheating to 250-400°F. Annealing, whenever necessary should be performed at 1550-1650°F followed by rapid cool.
