AISI 1035 Steel is a relatively low cost, medium carbon steel, and medium strength and is commonly used in a wide variety of general-purpose applications. SAE 1035 bars and rods are higher in hardness and strength as compared to low carbon steel and are often used for small parts of moderate strength such as nuts, bolts, studs, and parts that are headed or upset. The ASTM 1035 flat and square bar is to be rolled from properly identified heats of strand cast or from mold cast steel. The identification of the Carbon Steel Grade AISI 1035 bar is to be done with any one of the following processes i.e. a basic electric furnace process, oxygen process, or an open hearth process. For instance, a tensile test, deformation test, as well as a bend test will be conducted on the carbon steel ASTM specified C1035 round and hex bar.
